What is Haiku?

While designing note cards, Helen discovered the playfulness of haiku. Her interest in the simple beauty of this Japanese verse evolved, leading to the publishing of her first book, Splashes, haiku  of the seashore, which she illusrtated with sumi-e drawings. Her second book, Colors of Haiku, received rave reviews and is available for purchase.

Helen is regularly published in  haiku journals and has won honors in national and international haiku contests.

Haiku by Helen:

still trembling

after the bee

tide-wet-sand--

a small girl tries on

every footprint

freeway speed

the blur of poppies

by the yellow line
